Although the candidates will need to be experienced, training will be provided to get them up to speed with their ways of working.
Salary: £26,600 per annum – paid weekly
Shift Pattern: Various shifts are available
The main duties:
To be able to operate the appropriate fishing gear on the vessel safely and be physically able to handle fishing equipment
Ensure the safety of the crew members and understand health and safety policies and procedures.
Ensure yourself and all personnel abide by the health and safety regulations at all times
Operating fishing vessel(s) and maintain fishing equipment
Set and haul nets, pots and traps
Sort and store catches and to ensure any fish or shellfish that is outside of MLS requirements is returned to sea
Inspecting equipment to ensure that it is in good working condition
Preparing bait to use during fishing trips
If required to maintain logs of the catch and other activities related to fishing operations
Observing weather conditions such as wind speed and direction to determine optimal fishing times
Clean and maintain equipment and fishing gear
